Why can't I disable hardware accelerator?

I tried to record a game program and every time I did, there was only a black screen showing. I did my research, I found out I needed to disable my hardware accelerator. I'm on Windows Vista, and someone told me to go to Control Panel>Appearance And Personalization>Personalization>Display Settings>Advanced Settings>Troubleshoot>Change Settings. I did just that but the "Change Settings" wasn't allowing me to click on it. It's not a glitch or anything, they won't give me authorization to do so. Next to it there is an Administrator icon, but my account is the computer admin. How in the world do I disable hardware accelerator?

Is it rude to ask for a "bigger item" on your registry?

I think it's fine to have a bigger item on the registry. It gives people ideas of what you might need and then they might be able to find a good deal on it at another store. I think giving people a good mix of lower priced to mid priced with a couple higher priced items is fine. I wouldn't feel like someone was being rude on a registry unless they were asking for things that would be ridiculous (on a wedding registry) like crystal and silver - things that aren't needed but that some people want.

My mom is becoming a nun, help?

This is not a joke, my mom decided a few years ago to "try" her vocation as a nun. She found an order that takes previously married women and people with children and she left. I am extremely against this. I think this is some child hood fantasy she is trying to fulfill, or reparation for getting pregnant outside of marriage when she was 20. Regardless, she was married to my dad for 20 years and has 3 children. She has always been an extremely devout Catholic, but this is taking it too far. I want to support her, but this is just absurd. She is a psychologist (spare me the comments on the irony here) with a Ph.D and she quit her career, sold everything she owns, and left. The issue now is that when they "let her" come home on home visits, she expects everyone (particularly me) to just cater to her every need. I have to drive her everywhere, house her, pay for her food, etc. She came here 2 days ago, and now she is in her full nun costume. I told her this is a small town and I will NOT be seen with her in that outfit. I love her, but this is just unfair to me. It may sound selfish, but my mom had a lot of money and I depended on her financial support til I graduate from college. She promised she would wait til I graduated, but she just left me high and dry. I have tried to tell her so many times that Im against it but she tells me she is just doing what she thinks God is calling her to. I dont know how to deal with this crap, some advice maybe?

i'm going for my annual physical very soon so i'll ask my doctor anyway...but is there a possibility that i have a hormonal imbalance? i have a lot of dark body hair over my body (mostly stomach, back and chest/) and my are different sizes. i kow that this is normal when one is still developing, but they are at least two cup sizes different. i read that that can mean a hormonal imbalance, as well as the body hair. also i have acne. not just a few here and there, but it seems to come in waves all over my face. it's not extreme but it still seems like a lot. and i have irregular periods. last summer i was having them ever other month, for 3 weeks at a time and my flow was VERY heavy and i couldn't even walk or sit up in a chair without leaking. i went to the doctor for this, and they had some tests done but they didn't do a hormone test. they did find out that i had anemia (which of course i did i was pretty much bleeding dry!) but they didn't do anything about it besides recommended that i take a daily multivitamin. eventually my periods got almost regular, i only bleed for a week and either every month or every other month depending. and i don't bleed nearly as heavy. i also get extremely depressed and this might be because of my lifestyle, which is changing for the better soon, but sometimes i feel like i just can't stop it. could i have a hormonal imbalance?

I never missed a day in three years of high school. I got suspended for something SO stupid and I can't fathom not being in school for five days. I can't find my downloaded music files!?

About two weeks ago I brought and downloaded the whole Minecraft soundtrack off of the composer (C418)'s website. It opened a file that held all of the songs (which are .mp3)'s. I right clicked on ONE of the songs and played it in the Windows Media Player just to see if it worked (which it did :D).. but then, I closed WMP. When I reopened it I tried to find the rest of the files I downloaded, but I can't find the folder they're in. I tried the "Search" option and I tried manually searching my "My Music" folder, but nothing. On the website that I downloaded it from it said that I can use the link in the receipt they e-mailed me to re-download them, but while I was buying the album I noticed that I misspelled my E-mail address and there wasn't any option to fix it. I've sent two e-mail messages to the website in the past week and so far have no reply! How can I find these files?

Help! New concrete patio has slabs that are lifting/heaving & cracked!?

We had a concrete patio installed in Aug.of '07 by a BBB accredited contractor that has been in business since 1941. The co. wanted to install the patio earlier than our requested date (in Sept.) due to another job. We asked again & again if the weather in Aug. would cause probs. with the curing of the patio, etc. They said no, just keep it wet. So they installed the patio the week that just happened to be the hottest that summer w/ temps above 100 & had a severe thunderstorm as they were finishing two of the slabs that are now cracked.They told us to "water it" everyday, which we did--again though this was a very hot week & they didn't cover it. Now the patio is lifting/heaving in sections & cracked on two of the slabs. The contractor came out & wants to blame it on a downspout where the water runs next to the patio & said he won't do anything unless we do the driveway too! We think it's b/c the gravel underneath wasn't compacted enough or the curing wasn't done correctly! Help!

I Just changed the intake and carb on a chevy 350 small block, and when I took the distributor out I did not mark it.I understand I need to bring the #1 cylinder to top dead center, and put the rotor in facing the #1 cyliner on the cap. Is using the marking on the harmonic balancer a good way? and then the rotor should go in with the point facing #1 cylinder

My pc is too slow, what should I do?

Mozilla firefox freezes for a few seconds, youtube videos and wmp/vlc videos won't play normally, sound is ok but video freezes too. In general my pc is ridiculously slow. I formatted my disk, then installed drivers and only a few programs such as vlc, msn, google earth, antivirus, office, programs that shouldn't do any harm. I also downloaded microsoft updates for XP. But here I am with the same problem about 2 or 3 days after the format. I do not enter in dangerous sites so I can't understand what the hell is going wrong!! Any ideas??

my son did this at 6 months old as well. If you want her to sleep in her cot then you have to stop bringing her in bed with you. It is going to be very tiring for you but don't give up (if you bring her back into your bed she will think that if she cries enough she gets to sleep in your bed). I actually slept on the floor in my son's room for close to a week as he was getting up and crying nearly every hour (it was the only way i could get any kind of sleep). Persistence will pay off for you, just hang in there. Also, try putting her to bed earlier (between 7 & 8:30 is a good bedtime for her age). She also needs to learn how to fall asleep by herself. During her day naps put her in her cot while she is tired but awake. If she cries, go in and pat her on the bum until she settles and then leave. Don't pat her to sleep or she will need you to pat her back to sleep every time she wakes up. Good luck.

Our schools clothing orderform recently came out and amongst the orderables is sweatpants. They come in either grey or navy (grey is really light, almost a white), have STA written in small light green letters diagonally down the leg and THUNDER written on the in fairly decent size lettering (Dark blue to black on the grey sweatpants and white on the navy sweatpants). Now since I am new to the school no one in my grade has a pair yet, but in the grade older almost every girl and most of the guys own a pair. I was asking around and lots of girls in my grade already got there orders in and none of my guy friends have decided whether or not there ordering them yet, I personally want sweats from my school and have always wanted a pair, just never really seemed like a good time to buy a pair before. My Iguana seems to be ill?

Today my 3 year old iguana crawled out of his tree and down to the floor of his cage in a weird spot, and basically quit moving. I just moved into a new home and have had some heater issues. It has probably got down to 65 or 60 in my house. Ever since we moved here he has not been eating the same. I picked him up off the floor and sprayed him and placed him back next to his light. I also have the humidifier on next to his cage. He seems to be coming around a bit but i really dont want him to die. The floor of his cage is colder so i dont understand why he would stay down there. Can anyone ist with advice?

In my junior year, i replaced it with Ap Economics. Now in my senior year, i obviously don;t plan on taking a world language, but im having Second thoughts. Every college website seems to recommend 3-4 years of world language. yet, i plan on majoring in finances, then going to law school. So i replaced my CP world language (my one CP cl, cuz i suck at world language) with higher level cles in math and social studies. Will i be penalized for this when i applying to schools like U Penn, Nova, UVA, and Carnegie Mellon, or will they be happier to see my higher level courses? should i take a world language my senior year? please help!!!

Yes, and even some video games of non violent nature can cause damaging affects, but its mostly the violent ones that bring out aggressive nature in some people. Video games, especially the violent ones (GTA, Halo, etc) are also some that become the most addicting; much like how someone can become addicted to alcohol or drugs. If you try to remove the object, it often creates the same reaction you would get from an alcoholic or a druggie; aggression, violence, etc. Also, some individuals see the video games, become influenced and sometimes starstruck by them, and either think that the violent nature of the characters is cool and start acting like them, or think it to be normal behaviour and react the same way as the latter. Some develop other conditions caused by the video games (insomnia, for example) and without proper sleep the individual can become disorientated, confused, and aggressive. Overall, I think violent video games in moderation is fine (as long as the person can tell the difference between reality, and video games)

Am I losing my mind or do I just have weird interests?

I think I may be crazy. For all my life I have been interested in things people of my age and gender should not be interested in. I am a 14 year old girl interested in zombies, clic slasher films and gore. But that is not what bothers me. When I look at zombies or Freddy Krueger, I feel , or turned on. My tattoo is starting to dry up, the surface is rough, is this normal?

I just has a tattoo done at the lower back on Monday. Today is day 5 alr. What I can say is... The skin where the tattoo covered feels really rough, and it is peeling off a little(scabs)? I didn't peel or scratch it. BUT when I slp, I'm nt sure if the friction will cause it to peel a little. Some ink came out w the skin(very minimal though)!! How much longer will this last? Fish for someone who hates fish?

Whenever I walk past the fish counter at the supermarket, the smell makes me want to vomit. I think fish look and smell absolutely revolting. The SD-card from my Casio digital camera is apparently corrupted in some way. The camera says "Card ERROR" and when trying to read it on my computer it says "Device is not formatted". YES! if that it makes your daughter happy to throw flowers in front of you at the courthouse and they allow it, by all means, make it happen. For the last several years I have noticed difficulty breathing through my nose and have been a "mouth breather". Also, everytime I swallow, I swallow a lot of mucus. Hi. I have been trying for a baby since 1 year and have been diagnosed with PCOD.I am taking glyciphage. My periods didn't come for 6 months and every time my doc have me med to induce them. Last month my doc gave me siphene and i had 4 follicles and ovulated by self but no success and this month also i ovulated and took duphaston but my periods due date was yester considering 33 days cycle. My pregnancy test is also negative.I am really v tensed.I have ovulated so my periods should come for sure this time,,right???can the pregnancy test be false?

William Rodgers Knife information?

i want to build a small post and beam strawbale house 22x45. i have read i can build the walls with 4 by4's every8 ft. besides at the doors and windows. i want high ceilings for lofts at each end. the floor in the lofts will help hold the outer walls in place, but in the center there will be about 23 ft. open and im worried about outward pressure from the ceilings in this middle section. can i put a couple of 6 by 6 beams across to help keep the walls from deflecting outward from the roof pressure? roof will be lightweight premanufactured metal truss with colored metal roof. so the roof weight will be much less. please help with any info on this. thanks

My babys other family?

I am currently 39 weeks pregnant with my first baby, i was in a relationship with my baby's dad for a year but ended it seven months ago. He was violent towards me and caused me emotional abuse, he's very immature for his age he is 21. He takes drugs and i also think he has a behavioural problem as he is incredibly unpredictable and irresponsible. He wont be on my baby's birth certificate and i have absolouty no intention of letting him have contact with my child, for my babys safety. My problem is that his family are very keen to see my baby once he is born, i.e his mum and younger sisters, but i'm not sure whether to let them. I dont think they are suitable role models for my baby as none of them are academic and are very different from my family. They get into trouble with poilce sometimes and are well quite rough :/ like a family out of Shameless, but they arent bad people so would it be unfair for them not see the baby? Blue/White Thruway Question Mark Signs?!?

OK, I feel stupid asking this, but my family is so annoyed. We live in Upstate NY, and when we travel on the thruway- like I-90- I always spot these blue signs with a white question mark on them. The thing is, even though they look professionally done, they are almost always on the BACK of a real sign and/or upside down, so I don't think they're legitimate, I think they're a joke. Sometimes I also see them just stuck into the ground at the top of a pole by the side of the highway. What are these?!?

Ok so i've had braces for about 15 months now. I'm 13 and my sister is getting married June 27. I was supposed to be able to get my braces off before her wedding, and my mom even paid off the remaining balance of the braces so i could be done with them when we needed to be. but last MOnday, i had an ortho appointment and the lady basically said there was no way in hel i would be getting them off before then. she said she wouldnt because there is a tiny gap, maybe 3 mm across, on two f my theeth. AND, its in the back so its not like you can see it. i dont care abouot the gap... but thts why she wont take them off. and now she's saying october. my mom got mad and wont talk to me or my ortho lady about it. so what can i say to her? ive given her time to think and havnt said anything about it, so its not like ive been bugging her about it. i havnt said anything. and it hurts to eat STILL and i get headaches and i just want them off. my teeth are fixed, but she still says i cant have them off. (my ortho, not my mom) so what can i say to my mom, so she wont just giv up and let my ortho control her. my mom is kind of a weak person, and the ortho is very like, 'forceful' and she kinda scared my mom into playing along last time. so is there anything i could say/do to get my mom to understand my position, and keep her promise?

NOOB QUESTION: How do you do a burnout with a manual car staying in just one spot?

the purpose of a burnout is to heat up the tires and clutch prior to racing. the heat allows for better traction. while its common to see, you should do burnouts with regular street tires, these tire are designed to have traction in all weather and a burnout will only wear the tires out faster. if you really want to do a burn out make sure you do it in a safe place away from traffic (unlike the idiot in the video). all you do is rev up the engine and drop the clutch. or you can put on your e-brake and do the same. yes it puts a lot of strain on the car (, axles, tires, clutch).

Whats wrong with my dog?

i recently took my dog (american staff) to her first vet visit after adopting her from a shelter. she had kennel cough and worms other wise healthy and happy. after giving her doxycycline(for the kennel couch) and drontal (for deworming) she is very lethargic. she isnt vomiting, has loose stool with no diarhia, she coughs up phlegms, will not eat her food but seems more then ready to eat human food. doesnt want to drink water. her abdomin/ bottom half of her body shakes like if she want to vomit breathing a little faster but not significantly. i took her for a walk and she walked but not at her usual high speed. like i said she pooped but it was a little loose. she peed twice. after the walk she was even more lethargic so im guessing it took her whole strength to go out. she doesnt come to me when i call her. she is house broken and no incidents have happend inside the house. is this because of the mdecations and i should give her a couple of days or is it bad?

Dishwasher not draining?

Had a frigadiare dishwasher that wouldnt drain, after trying the baking soda and vinegar trick MULTIPLE times, it still would not budge whatsoever. uming that this dishwasher had a bad pump, and seeing how it came free with the house, I got my parents old dishwasher that worked great at their old house. In fact, this dishwasher had a brand new pump, and yet we still have the same problem, it won't drain. The garbage disposal works fine, and i've also emptied the drainage tube so I know that's not it either. What could possibly be the problem!!

The house we recently purchased has a weird smell in the garage, what can we do to get rid of it?

It smells like cooked broccoli. Sometimes the smell is there and sometimes it isn't. The smell is more prominent when it has been raining outside. The smell does seep in to our house so I'm pretty annoyed by it. The owners were just finishing putting drywall up when we first looked at it. We thought it was the carpets which we had cleaned before we moved in, but getting down for a good sniff has let us know that they are not the problem. Since then we have sealed the gap in the garage between the concrete and the drywall and we have scoured the floor with a concrete acid wash. The smell is still there! I have no idea what this could be. Any suggestions on what it is or what I can do to rid my garage of this stink would be greatly appreciated! Thanks for your time.

Ok so you think drilling will bring down the price of oil. why would a oil company which has enjoyed the

biggest profits ever earned by any company on the planet in the last few yrs pump enough oil to bring the prices down even if we gave them access to all the oil fields on the planet. It is not like you would want to penalize them with windfall profits or anything. So you are uming that if we give them access they are just going to pump and pump and pump until you have cheep gas? That would be against their best interests and I don't think anyone is dumb enough to think oil companies have the slightest interest in what is best for the american people. It is a fact they sit on reserves they have until it maxamizes their profit to pump. Without some controls and penalties how do you imagine they would pump one more barrel than they have to to make the most possible money. Does anyone know the cost per barrel for pumping in the areas the repubs insist we need to open up? I am sure we would pay that plus a handsome profit and not be any better off than we are today.
