America's World War I loans?

I suppose you could make that argument of course, but to my knowledge there isn't really any evidence pointing specifically towards this as a reason. Personally I think your instructor is fishing for (bad) excuses for American involvement considering how divided loyalties and opinions in general regarding US involvment were; in addition to Wilson's stance on the post war world I just can't see why they would try and focus on this particular possible point. That said I can't really think of anything in particular to be said on this point that is concrete so frankly it sounds like you'd be best served trying to talk about European colonial revenues and such and then just throwing some "they needed this money to repay the US" at the end. So a bunch of bs in other words.
