What is the appeal of The Catcher in the Rye?

I suppose it is a matter of taste and opinion. People like what they like, you know? Sometimes you are so unimpressed by something that it's hard to understand why anyone else can even enjoy it. I have the same feelings as you, only they are directed towards Twilight. Today, Edward Cullen is still a whining bore. Why does anyone like this series? Beats me, but they do.
