Is this situation normal?

My school's clothing orderform came out about a month ago. I decided I would order myself some school sweatpants. They come in grey and navy, have STA written in small, light green lettering diagonally down the left leg and "Thunder" written on the of the sweatpants. The Thunder is white on the navy sweats and black to dark blue on the grey sweats. A couple days ago I got called down to the office to pick up my sweats. To my suprise, guys were walking out left and right with there "THUNDER BUM" sweatpants on. So as the secretarian handed me my sweats and led me toward the changeroom to put them on, I asked her if it was normal for so many guys to order/wear the sweatpants and she said yea. So I tossed them on and walked out later to find that over 100 guys had ordered them and only 20 girls. Is this normal?
