Is it rude to ask for a "bigger item" on your registry?

I think it's fine to have a bigger item on the registry. It gives people ideas of what you might need and then they might be able to find a good deal on it at another store. I think giving people a good mix of lower priced to mid priced with a couple higher priced items is fine. I wouldn't feel like someone was being rude on a registry unless they were asking for things that would be ridiculous (on a wedding registry) like crystal and silver - things that aren't needed but that some people want.
