Ok so you think drilling will bring down the price of oil. why would a oil company which has enjoyed the

biggest profits ever earned by any company on the planet in the last few yrs pump enough oil to bring the prices down even if we gave them access to all the oil fields on the planet. It is not like you would want to penalize them with windfall profits or anything. So you are uming that if we give them access they are just going to pump and pump and pump until you have cheep gas? That would be against their best interests and I don't think anyone is dumb enough to think oil companies have the slightest interest in what is best for the american people. It is a fact they sit on reserves they have until it maxamizes their profit to pump. Without some controls and penalties how do you imagine they would pump one more barrel than they have to to make the most possible money. Does anyone know the cost per barrel for pumping in the areas the repubs insist we need to open up? I am sure we would pay that plus a handsome profit and not be any better off than we are today.
