UK: If the Monarchy was political would it be as popular to the country/mes?

Those interventions aren't really political - a "professional" opinion on defence vehicle procurement and Prince Charles talking (again) about his dislike of modern architecture don't really count. The Royal Family's natural political party would be the Conservatives but the point is that they keep out of any live political debate and are SEEN to be impartial. Of course they aren't - they have their opinions just like anyone.
