Manufactured stone countertops - cost and your experience (do you like it)?

We are thinking of getting new countertops for our kitchen and it seems like the manufactured stone (like Silestone) is the easiest to care for and most resistant - at least on paper. If you have manufactured stone countertops what is your experience with it? Is it heat and stain resistant? Is it better than granite? How much did it cost to install? Thanks.
